Just a weird dream [Apr. 1st, 2008|10:24 am]
At last a night with a lot of good sleep... I enjoyed dreaming this dream.
It might be Dana induced, but I don’t know why, I had this fun dream just now:

I dreamt I was in a major Japanese train station at an evening hour, and it was quite busy. I wanted to get to where I was going, because it felt like I’ve just landed in Japan (not that I had any luggage but still...). So after a bit of cruising around in the station, I decided to go to the information desk and get some directions.

I looked at the map and decided where I want to go – I need train line number nine, the orange one, that will get me where I’m going... the funny thing is that looking from it now in retrospective, the map I dreamt about was the Tram map of Den-Haag in The Netherlands (where my sister lives – and her house was where I was planning to get :-D ). At any rate, I look at the map and decide to ask how to I get to line number nine eastbound. I build the sentence (incorrectly of course) in my head in Japanese and ask for the information: “Sumimasen, kyu-ban-sen, Higashi wa doko desuka?” and so the hand gestures begin. But in the end the most important thing he said was “Shita” which is down, so I was looking for the stairs down. But all I could find was stairs up, and there’s a multitude of people here (plus I overheard two Israeli guys, looking for themselves).

After a few lookarounds I found a downward way, however it seems I’m the only one who wants to go that way, all the others are stuck in the other direction. When I get to the bottom of the stairs I find that there are cameras there, and that they are shooting something. I wanted to get across so that I could get going, but a woman from the production said that they’re gonna shoot now, so just stay next to this camera and act like you’re part of the production; so I found an earphone dangling for the camera and stuck it in my ear and started make-believing I was playing with the camera. I looked through the camera’s display and saw the shot.

Apparently, they were shooting a video clip for K’s Choice, and the dream turned from the camera view to a whole new clip for “Believe” (with post-production and everything), where you see Sarah just jumping around and some other beautiful things that I can’t remember right now. In the end of the clip when she says “I believe in meeeeeeee” she jumps up in the air, and turns into a pretty good, CGIed, singing, Cheeseburger. And so I come to understand that it’s a commercial for Burger-King or something like that...

The shot ends and she goes to the side. I’ll be damned if I miss this opportunity! I go over to where she’s sitting with her brother, and I start to say hello. The woman from the production says that it’s inappropriate but I continue: “Hi I’m Yoni, I’m from Israel, and I was at your show there a few years back” and Sarah’s eyes open – “Yeah! It was an amazing show!” and as we continue reminiscing, the woman from the production says: “Ata MiYisrael?” (Are you from Israel? In an English accent), and I say “Ken, Ken...” (yes yes) and the conversation continues,

And I wake up.

It's old, but it's still her. [Aug. 18th, 2007|01:13 pm]
At last! I managed to upload Thamar's interview about her lectures for Purim.

It's from two years ago, so her hair and glasses look different, but it's still the same brain... :)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up:

Towel Day is coming! it's this Friday. This is the first year I actually remember the day, alas, it's a Friday, I would have to especially travel to Tel Aviv parading my towel for all to see... (and maybe find some other hitchhikers)

Anyway - don't forget your towels!

למקרה שלא ידעתם... [Dec. 22nd, 2006|01:25 am]

Getting back is hard on the knees... oh wait I got that wrong...

to my new house in Gedera (which is totally awesome). Got to see Thamar at last. Got my share of a migraine (jeeze that was a tough one). Got to see [info]tryscer & Philipsen's new apartment.

Lot's to do. I hope things will go well in the next few days.

Let's start the new beginnings...

Last steps of a journy [Sep. 10th, 2006|08:00 pm]
[Current Location |Schiphol Airport The Netherlands]

So, that's it...

I'm at Schiphol, waiting for my flight. No free Internet in the airport so this post will be sent tomorrow from home. (WOW)

These past 5 days at my sister's were great. Seeing my nephew for such a long time really gave us the opportunity to build a stronger rapport and actually get to know one another. So in case you were wondering – of course I have the cutest, nicest, most intelligent nephew in the whole wide world. We had so much fun, and he REALLY liked the O'miyage (gifts) I've brought him – mostly the inflatable Barbapapa (ברבאבא) couch, which was a good idea because I got to see so much Barbapapa DVDs in Dutch, that the theme song is still playing in my head as I type these words. It's a good show on the whole.

These five days were much needed. I am still suffering from Jetlag. Not from the hours, but from the fatigue. I'm tired constantly. I hope I won't be totally drenched when [info]tryscer will come to pick me up in Ben-Gurion. (Thanks again man)

So that's it – thus concludes my trip to Japan, that this Blog was opened for. It took me quite a while, but I did it and came back. I hope that I will keep on writing here for the benefit (?) of the LJ community. Damn, I just remembered I owe you some entries about a few things in Japan, I'll try to write them when I can.

In conclusion, it was tough but worth it.

Severing yourself [Sep. 4th, 2006|02:52 am]
[Current Location |Yotsukaido - but not for long...]
[mood |Titred]
[music |All of my music on shuffle]

all of my stuff is packed in boxed to give to people/second hand shop,,, got just a bit more of cleaning to do and in a few minutes I'll go close my bank account, stop my health insurance, cancel my cellphone etc...

there's an odd feeling to cutting yourself off from Internet and mobile services - and therefor any communication with the world. it's like severing a limb. (only of course not that painful.)

in 24 hours I'll be at the airport.

Last days. [Sep. 1st, 2006|02:35 pm]
[Current Location |Still in Yotsukaido]
[mood |What's next...]
[music |none]

Well, it's getting closer.

Today was my last day of work. It all went relatively ok. I will miss my students, because I was let into their lives (some more than others) and vise versa.

Now it's action time - I have to pack, pay the bills, finish bureaucracy, get rid of all my stuff, clean the apartment and send some stuff back home. All in the next 3 days.

Then I will go to the desert of the Netherlands (as in - no work or anything that you HAVE to do) for 5 days.

And only then - the land of miruku ando hani (that's the Katakana version of "Milk & Honey")

If you already want to set a time to meet in Israel, reply with a time that is comfortable for you - my schedule is quite clean for now...

every day, it's a gettin' closer [Aug. 27th, 2006|12:43 pm]
[Current Location |Good ol' Yots]
[mood |busy as a dyke in a hardware s]

*sigh*

So it's a Sunday. And after this weekend, I have 4 more days of work, 3 more days of gettin' ready, and I'm on my way.

Started packing already, cause I will have so much stuff, I need to see how much I can take, and how much I must leave behind... I will have to see what I can sell, what I can give away, etc...

So if anyone wants something from Japan... you can just forget it... :) too late...

anywho.

Japan is a way cool place, totally interesting, and different than anything you've seen I'm sure.

I'm ready to leave it now. (Apart from a few technicalities, like finishing work, waiting for my flight, packing etc...)

Mom days [Aug. 11th, 2006|06:12 am]
[Current Location |Yotsukaido]
[mood |OK]
[music |Galatz]

Yeah!

Mom is here!

We're planning our trip around Japan. Doing what we can (we are both non-early-risers...)

Yesterday we went to Nikko (which I've just found out the name means sunshine/ray of light). It's a small town in the mountains that holds beautiful shrines. was very nice, here are pictures.

We will be heading for Kyoto, Nara and Kobe on the 14th, and we'll come back on the 18th. This will actually be my chance to actually "see" Japan, even though I feel that what I've been doing daily here, is what I believe to be "Seeing" Japan. (its people and culture, and not the tourist view)

When all is said and done, I still feel that I am all ready to head home already. Japan is great, but enough is enough.

לא הכל שושנים [Jul. 31st, 2006|08:35 pm]
[Current Location |bedtume]
[mood |tired in oh so many ways]
[music |Galatz]

Gomennasai... [Jul. 15th, 2006|04:43 pm]
[Current Location |Home = Mushi-Atsui!]
[mood |Busy & Tired & WAY to hot...]
[music |Flook]

I guess that since got to Japan I've gotten used to apologizing for everything I do, so...

I'm sorry that I haven't written in ages...

I have absolutely no time:
Thamar was just here for a visit of 13 days, which was TOTALLY awesome. We had a picnic-BDay with a few teachers from my school and made Israeli food. t'was SO much fun. After that we went to the Gion Festival in Narita City (pictures will be up soon I hope) (BTW is there a place that I can post short low quality movies?).
Which reminds me - I'm sorry that I did not answer everyone who wrote me a Happy-BDay greeting/comment/Email - I just had no time.
I also have student report cards, which are already overdue for some schools...
Plus the school is having its annual Happiyokai (English Recital), so there's getting ready for that...
Oh and did I mention that I'm coming back home soon?

Due to my health problems (which are not pathological, but quite a nuisance) I will be coming home early - my last day of work will be September 2nd. (more about that in another post... not now...)

I will try to write more interesting things about Japan next time... but thanks for tuning in...

A quick post before bed. [Jun. 26th, 2006|07:40 pm]
[Current Location |bed.]
[mood |Must sleep]

Just to tell the tail of my first Japanese haircut.

it's basically the same, except that you pay in the beginning to a machine that gives you a ticket, which you immediately give to your respective hair dresser.

in the place where I went to, there was a small cabinet behind the mirror where you are to place your belongings. If you have glasses (like I do), you are given a small round box (like a Yatsi dice shaker) to put them in.

After the hair cut is done, and the little hairs have been brushed off your face, the barber takes out a long tube and connects a little brush on the end of it - apparently this is a vacuum cleaner. she then proceeded to remove the excess hairs from my head. (lucky for me I'm not shedding to much...)
